Busbud Acquires South Africa’s Ratality for Revenue Management Integration

Canadian startup Busbud, a Montreal-based global leader in ground travel booking platforms, has announced the acquisition of Ratality, a South African company specializing in revenue management software for ground transportation operators. This strategic move signifies Busbud’s commitment to expanding its B2B (business-to-business) offerings by integrating Ratality’s expertise in revenue optimization. While the financial details of the acquisition haven’t been disclosed, it marks Busbud’s first foray into mergers and acquisitions within Africa.

Busbud’s Groundwork: Building a Comprehensive B2B Suite

Busbud has carved a niche for itself by offering travelers a user-friendly platform to compare and book bus and train tickets across an extensive network. They currently boast over three million routes in more than 80 countries worldwide. Prior to the Ratality acquisition, Busbud had already taken significant steps to enhance its B2B offerings. In 2022, the company acquired Betterez, a Toronto-based firm specializing in reservation and ticketing management solutions. This move strengthened Busbud’s ability to cater to the needs of ground transportation operators.

Ratality: The Revenue Management Specialist

Founded in 2017, Ratality provides cloud-based software solutions specifically designed to optimize revenue for ground transportation businesses, including buses, coaches, ferries, charters, tours, and transfers. Their solutions empower operators to make data-driven decisions through features like advanced demand forecasting, dynamic pricing, and fleet management.

A Perfect Match: Strengthening Busbud’s Value Proposition

The acquisition of Ratality allows Busbud to integrate a critical piece into its B2B suite. LP Maurice, CEO and Co-founder of Busbud, highlighted the significance of this move, stating, “This is a very special partnership that will add a key missing piece to our growing B2B offering.” By incorporating Ratality’s revenue management expertise, Busbud can now offer a more comprehensive solution to ground transportation operators globally.
