Salma Ingabire: Driving Financial Inclusion and Innovation Across East Africa

Salma Ingabire is a seasoned payments professional and Agile leader with over 11 years of management experience spanning multiple geographies, including East Africa, the US, Senegal, and Cameroon. With a robust background in Fintech operations and sales, Salma has demonstrated a remarkable ability to drive teams towards achieving maximum and sustainable results while providing meaningful value to clients and customers.

Throughout her career, Salma has been deeply passionate about leveraging innovative solutions to promote financial inclusion for underserved populations. Her dedication to this cause has fueled her commitment to developing affordable, accessible, and innovative payment solutions that cater to the needs of individuals and businesses across the region.

As the Country Director for Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda at Visa, Salma plays a pivotal role in overseeing the general management of all aspects of the local business. Her responsibilities include crafting and executing business strategies, driving business development and portfolio management initiatives, fostering relationships with government officials and regulatory institutions, and providing leadership to her team to ensure alignment with global and regional strategies.

In her role as Chief Operating Officer (COO) at AC group Ltd, Salma was tasked with overseeing the day-to-day operations of the business. She spearheaded efforts to coordinate systems and resources, develop forward-thinking business strategies for future growth, and maintain the company’s competitive position within the industry. Her strategic acumen and leadership skills were instrumental in driving the company’s success during her tenure.

Salma’s expertise spans a wide range of areas within the Fintech landscape, including mobile financial services, e-banking delivery channels, project management, marketing, distribution, product development, change management, business development, digital solutions rollout, and government payments. Her diverse skill set and hands-on experience have equipped her with the tools needed to navigate the complexities of the financial services industry effectively.
