Botswana Launches First Satellite BOTSAT-1 Set for Launch in 2025

Botswana is taking a giant leap into the cosmos with the development of its first-ever satellite, BOTSAT-1. This ambitious project, spearheaded by the Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) in collaboration with Bulgarian aerospace company EnduroSat, marks a significant milestone for the nation’s scientific and technological advancement.
BOTSAT-1 is scheduled for a grand debut in February 2025, hitching a ride on SpaceX’s Transporter-13 mission aboard the mighty Falcon 9 rocket. BIUST engineers will join forces with their EnduroSat counterparts in Sofia to meticulously assemble and integrate the satellite’s payload.

This is no ordinary satellite. BOTSAT-1 is designed to be a game-changer for Botswana’s mining and agricultural sectors.
